Some people and places need no introduction. Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, for example. Caitlin Clark and Steph Curry. The Empire State Building and the Golden Gate Bridge.
But those folks and those locations are the exception rather than rule. Most of the time, you need to get to know someone or someplace before you understand what they are all about and start to feel comfortable.
When it comes to getting help for a mental health disorder, a substance use disorder, or a combination of the two, it can be especially important to get a good introduction to a place where you might seek out treatment. And so in this blog entry, we would like to introduce ourselves to you.
Let’s take a look at the services offered at Johnstown Heights Behavioral Health.
We Offer Those We Serve a New Beginning
At Johnstown Heights Behavioral Health, we help adults and adolescents who are experiencing an acute mental, behavioral, or psychiatric issue that is disrupting their daily life. Our highly trained staff provides a careful assessment, diagnosis, short-term stabilization services, and ongoing care and support.
The goal of all of our services is to help individuals improve their quality of life by addressing the issues and challenges they may face with evidence-based, effective, and personalized treatment. Johnstown Heights Behavioral Health is a place where you can reset and get a new start.
We provide compassionate care to every person we serve, and our approach to treatment is built around six key values:
- Honesty: Our work is grounded in a commitment to integrity and fairness.
- Competence: We are highly trained, experienced, and dedicated to always doing our best work.
- Perseverance: Challenges are going to arise, and we meet them with confidence and resolve.
- Passion: Our work is a calling, and we are passionate about what we do, about our team, and about the people we serve.
- Respect: Each person’s human dignity is honored in every interaction.
- Teamwork: We work closely together—and with you—to reach important goals.
Treating a Range of Conditions
Our services include treatment for:
- Anxiety disorders: Our inpatient program for adults provides short-term treatment for the five major types of anxiety disorder, including generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and social anxiety disorder.
- Bipolar disorder: We provide treatment for adolescents and adults struggling with this mood disorder that is characterized by extreme highs and lows.
- Schizophrenia: This severe brain and behavior disorder often causes those who suffer from it to have difficulty expressing and managing their emotions—and difficulty distinguishing reality from fantasy.
- Suicidality: We can help those who are experiencing persistent thoughts of suicide, and we can treat underlying disorders that may be contributing to those thoughts.
- Dual diagnosis: Mental health disorders and substance use disorders are frequently entangled with one another, and we can treat both—helping a person to improve their mental well-being while also regaining and maintaining their sobriety.
Providing a Range of Approaches to Treatment
Different individuals need different approaches to treatment for mental health and substance use issues, and so Johnstown Heights Behavioral Health offers a variety of services. They include:
Care for Adolescents
Johnstown Heights offers an inpatient psychiatric program for girls between the ages of 13 and 17. Treatment includes:
- Medication evaluation and management
- Trauma-informed care
- Group therapy
- Stress management
- Recreation and art therapy
- Family support and education
We also offer an intensive outpatient program for adolescent boys and girls. This program can treat many different mental health issues while allowing participants to maintain their responsibilities at school and at home.
Care for Adults
Johnstown Heights provides detoxification services for those struggling with drugs or alcohol. Because withdrawal symptoms can be so challenging, it can be extremely difficult to give up a substance on your own. Our detox program provides a safe, medically supervised, and temptation-free environment for regaining your sobriety.
We also offer inpatient care for adults who would benefit from short-term hospitalization that includes around-the-clock monitoring and support. An outpatient program is also available, providing flexibility for those who need treatment but also need to continue working and maintaining their responsibilities at home.
A virtual version of the outpatient program provides even more flexibility, allowing individuals to seek treatment from their home or other safe place.
